MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A convicted child molester and kidnapper died in prison last month after choking on a hot dog, prison officials said.

Frederick Fretz, 45, was serving a 20-year sentence at the federal penitentiary in California when he died on Dec. 19.

According to a prison spokesman, medics tried to remove the hot dog from Fretz’s throat before taking him to a hospital.

Fretz pleaded guilty in 2005 to kidnapping a 10-year-old boy from Marion County. The boy was found with Fretz three days later in Georgia.”

STAUNTON, Va. – A pagan religion that some experts say can be interpreted as encouraging violence is gaining popularity among prison inmates, one of whom is scheduled to be executed this week for killing a fellow prisoner at the foot of an altar.

Michael Lenz is scheduled to die Thursday for the death of Brent Parker, who was stabbed dozens of times at Augusta Correctional Center during a gathering of inmates devoted to Asatru, whose followers worship Norse gods. At his trial, Lenz testified that Parker had not been taking the religion seriously and had to die to protect the honor of the gods.

AOL to Charge Same for Dial-Up, Broadband – Yahoo! News

NEW YORK – America Online Inc., seeking to encourage its subscribers to sign up for high-speed connections, is raising the price of its main dial-up plan to equal that of its new broadband offerings.

That means most subscribers will pay $25.90 a month for either dial-up or broadband beginning March 9, although AOL is offering discounts to dial-up subscribers who commit to a year. AOL currently charges $23.90 a month for unlimited dial-up access.
