What a Friday

This Friday started off with Drew waking up at 5:30am and one of Autumn’s employees calling in, causing her to close tonight and probably work tomorrow. I get to work and in desperate need of coffee, no creamer upstairs. So I venture downstairs to get some much needed creamer, taking the elevator which is really rare and Ken bumps into me (not really his fault, just an accident) so I wind up wearing coffee.. Hopefully it gets better from here, or at least levels out..

President Bush offered a comprehensive defense of capitalism and the American financial system in a speech in New York today, in the run-up to a weekend meeting of the Group of 20 nations that is likely to feature tough criticisms of the U.S.

Horoscopes are generally horribly wrong

“Sagittarians have a positive attitude, boundless energy, love of travel and a strong spiritual side.”

That’s what it said underneath my horoscope on something I found online that claimed it could tell you what profession to pursue based on your zodiac sign.

It seemed kind of funny to me.

I have never been accused of having a positive attitude, nor boundless energy. Usually people describe me as the complete opposite. I frequently hear things like “curmudgeon in training” or “laid back” and sometimes “lazy.” But never positive and energetic.

The Power of Witches

BURNABY, B.C. (CUP) — Back in high school, like many other teenaged girls, I became interested in the occult. Witches in particular held interest for me. But the image of a witch in my head went beyond that of the fairy tale hag.

My witch had a mystical beauty about her, and more importantly, she had power. I didn’t quite understand this power, but I knew I wanted it. I learned to read palms and tarot cards, and whenever I looked at someone’s hand, I felt a little bit of that power when their lines and fingertips told me about who they were.

Christopher Reeve/Superman Dead at 52

MOUNT KISCO, New York (AP) — Actor Christopher Reeve, the star of the “Superman” movies whose near-fatal riding accident nine years ago turned him into a worldwide advocate for spinal cord research, died of heart failure, his publicist said. He was 52.

We always thought you would walk again one day, but I supposed you are now. We’ll all miss you.
